Welcome to the Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) and welcome to Wayne County’s Multidisciplinary Team! You now join colleagues from Law Enforcement, Children’s Protective Services, medicine, prosecution, mental health and victim advocacy who collectively are charged with working to protect Wayne County’s children from maltreatment, violence, and trauma. These partner agencies have worked together, in various forms, for more than 30 years helping to keep the children of Wayne County Safe.
The MDT provides a coordinated, collaborative, and child-centered response to allegations of child abuse and neglect. Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is the only CAC serving Wayne County and is part of a statewide network of 40 CACs in Michigan, following best practices and evidence-informed approaches. By working together through as a MDT, we reduce the stress of multiple interviews, streamline services, pool our knowledge and resources, and ensure children and families receive the support that they need to heal. This portal offers easy access to protocols, resources, and learning opportunities to strengthen collaboration and improve outcomes for children and families in our community.

Referrals
Forensic Interview/Advocacy:
Referrals for forensic interviews/advocacy services, and non-acute medical evaluations are accepted for children residing in Wayne County. These referrals should be submitted during regular business hours using our online referral system: Submit a Ticket
For emergency interviews outside of regular business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), including evenings, weekends, and holidays, please contact our on-call staff at 734-383-2798
o Pursuant to the Wayne County Child Abuse and Neglect Protocol: A Multidisciplinary Response, services are coordinated with the MDT to ensure a child-centered, collaborative, and trauma-informed response.
o Please include the “KT CAC Referral System Instructions” document attached to the email.
Medical Evaluations & Therapy
o Very important you only send children to ED if they need emergent medical attention

o Our licensed clinicians offer evidence-based, trauma-focused therapy for Wayne County children impacted by abuse, violence, and other traumatic experiences. Therapy is available whether or not a child has received other CAC services.
Referrals are welcomed from families and MDT professionals. To consult about a referral or explore treatment options, please contact our office.
