Tenth Annual Christmas Shop for Children

Every child deserves the joy of Christmas—regardless of their family’s circumstances. For many families experiencing financial hardship, the holiday season can be especially difficult, and purchasing gifts may simply not be possible.
 
To help meet this need, The Guidance Center created the Power of Ten Leadership Circle in 2013—a heartfelt giving initiative that brings the magic of Christmas to children in our programs.
 
On Saturday, December 6, 2025, selected children will take part in a special holiday shopping experience at the Southgate Meijer, beginning at 8 a.m. Each child, accompanied by a caring adult shopping buddy, will receive $125 to spend on gifts—an experience that may be their only present this season. Children must be nominated and selected by TGC staff to participate, and this event is not open to the public.
 
This celebration is made possible thanks to our Power of Ten Leadership Circle—ten generous individuals or couples who each donate $1,000 to fund the event. While this core support is essential, smaller donations are also welcome and make a meaningful difference. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us create a joyful holiday for a child in need.
 
To ensure we can prepare for every participating child, we kindly ask that all donations be received by November 21.
 
In addition to giving, we invite you—if your schedule allows—to join us at the celebration and during the shopping experience to witness the smiles and excitement firsthand. If you’d like to volunteer, please sign up here. All volunteers will undergo a background check to ensure a safe and festive environment for the children.
