If you think that you or a loved one can benefit from mental health (link to mental health treatment page) and/or substance use treatment (link to substance use treatment page) services, please call The Guidance Center at 734-785-7711 to determine your eligibility, and to schedule an intake appointment.
If you are currently uninsured or your insurance does not include coverage for mental health or substance use services, please let us know. We can help.
The intake process
In order to complete the intake process as quickly and comfortably as possible, please arrive on time for your appointment. Remember to bring your picture identification, insurance card/s, proof of income, and contact information for your primary medical care provider. If you have a legal guardian, please bring your guardianship papers. If your guardian is a family member or friend, please invite them to attend your intake appointment with you.
This is what you can expect.
(link to) The intake process will take approximately two hours.
- After you sign in at the reception area you will be greeted by a peer support specialist (link to what is a peer support specialist page) or recovery coach (link to what is a recovery coach page). He or she will guide you through the intake process, answer any questions you may have about the services available to you, and talk with you about planning for your recovery.
- Next, you will meet with a referral specialist to determine your eligibility for services, verify your insurance information, and complete the necessary paperwork.
- Then you will meet with an intake specialist, a licensed, qualified mental health and addiction professional, to complete a thorough assessment of your needs and concerns, and make a preliminary plan for your recovery.
- Before you leave we will schedule follow-up appointments with a psychiatrist (link to Psychiatric Services page), case manager (link to case management page), and/or therapist (link to therapy page). We will provide you with an appointment slip to help you remember all of your upcoming appointments.
