Early Learning Community
What do we offer?
We provide free training, mentoring, workshops, playgroups, lending libraries and resources at designated Guidance Center Community Resource Centers in the Downriver area.
Workshop topics include:
- Health & Safety, including CPR and first aid
- Organization and scheduling techniques to maximize children’s experiences
- Learning Through Play
- Teaching children conflict resolution
- Enhancing relationships with children
- Understanding preschool development
- Understanding infant development
- Building relationships with the children’s parents
Who can receive services?
We serve adults caring for children age birth-5. This includes licensed child care providers, providers registered with the Department of Human Services, parents, neighbors, and other relatives.
Communities Served
The Guidance Center ELC team serves families in the Downriver area, however many people attend activities at other agency hub locations. There are no zip code qualifications.

Our services are free.
