Children and Youth Services
Children's Behavioral Health
Children's Behavioral Health provides an array of mental health services to children and youth ages 5 - 17 with emotional and behavioral challenges. Services include assessment, psychiatric treatment, office and home-based therapy and case management, therapeutic and skill-building groups, wraparound, and around-the-clock crisis screening. Children's Behavioral Health services focus both on the individual child/youth and the family as a whole. We are committed to help children and families build on their many strengths in order to lead fulfilling, productive lives.

Family Support Services
Parent Partner Services
Parent Partners serve as peer supports to parents involved in court ordered services to regain custody of their children. Service occurs in the parent’s home and community. Parent Partners have regained custody of their own children after Children’s Protective Services involvement and use this experience to coach parents. Staff helps parents maintain hope and develop parental confidence and competence to regain custody of the children.
Eligibility: Parents involved in Child Protective Services and Foster Care whose children are placed out of their care by court order.
Building Community Partnerships and Supportive Services
Eligibility for Supportive Services: Any family member including parents, youth, relatives, foster/adopt parents and guardians in the community touched by Child Welfare Services.
Match the network of supports and services within the community to meet eligible families’ needs.
Develop networks with community partners to support families or develop services needed to meet families’ needs. Meet with community leaders to address ways to increase Protective Factors within each community and reduce abuse and neglect of children.
Train volunteers to serve as Community Representatives at Permanency Planning Conferences convened by Department Of Human Services regarding safety and protection of children within a family.
The Guidance Center is one of four providers in Wayne County. The TGC service area is the south and west areas of Wayne County. Funding is provided by Department of Human Services Wayne County with no cost to the family.
