KIDS-TALK (Talking
and Listening to Kids)

The mission of Kids-TALK is to provide a child-friendly environment and
staff to interview alleged child physical and sexual abuse victims and promote
coordination and collaboration with:
-
law enforcement
-
Wayne County
Department of Human Services Child Protective Services
-
the Attorney
General’s Office-Family Court
-
the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, and
-
the medical and mental health community
to respond to the needs of
sexually abused children and their non-offending supportive
caregivers, and prevent future abuse.

Kids-TALK provides:

A child-friendly environment for interviews
-
Trained forensic interviewers
-
Coordination of investigative efforts
-
Collaboration among agencies involved in child abuse investigations
-
Referral services (counseling, medical, financial, legal, housing)

Interviews:
Interview times are
available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Interviews can be conducted at one of
four locations:

Kids-TALK
handles cases of
alleged physical and sexual abuse, severe physical abuse and neglect, and
trauma involving
children 17 years old and under. (Some exceptions may apply.)
Kids-TALK
provides a
specially trained child forensic interviewer to conduct the interview
pursuant to State of Michigan protocol.
Kids-TALK collaborates
with Law Enforcement, Child Protective Service and the Wayne County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Kids-TALK
minimizes the
trauma a child may experience after sexual abuse. |
