ADULT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

As with all of our clinical programs, adult services are provided by licensed and certified
mental health professionals.  These programs can be accessed by contacting one of our
CLIENT REFERRAL SPECIALISTS at 734-785-7700.

ADULT OUTPATIENT.  Our Adult Outpatient program offers mental health services to individuals, families and/or groups by helping to overcome challenges relating to self, family, work or other issues. Consumers gain insight and skills as they learn to understand and cope with their issues.

ADULT CASE MANAGEMENT.   Case Management is a coordination service offered to consumers who have multiple problem areas and are unable to access services without help.  Case managers:

• provide an assessment of needs

• develop a service plan

• link and coordinate services

• monitor services provided

• reassess and provide follow-up services

• in some cases, act as hospital liaison

ADULT COMMUNITY OUTREACH (CRISIS) SERVICES.  Through Adult Community Outreach, on-call staff assistance is available for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our staff members arrange for immediate assistance with the Psychiatric Intervention Center or make next-day appointments at The Guidance Center. They also provide outreach service to adults who are referred from local hospitals. Consumers are monitored to ensure quality care.

For adults experiencing severe and/or persistent mental illness, The Guidance Center offers programs designed to minimize the need for hospitalization while helping to develop the ability to function independently in the community. Consumers are assisted with tasks such as grocery shopping, food preparation, budgeting skills, etc.

A.C.T. (ADULT ASSERTIVE COMMUNITY TREATMENT). A.C.T. is a comprehensive outreach program that provides case management and support services in the home environment. 

A.D.A.P.T. (A DAY ALTERNATIVE TO PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT).  ADAPT is a therapeutic day treatment program that combines social work, case management, psychiatry and nursing services in a stable environment.
